chumbox, 2023

This long term project, titled “Chumbox” is a photo series about my dad who is a charter captain and our relationship. The photographs in this series are behind the scenes of what it is like to prepare for the fishing season; fishing equipment littered around the house, working on the boat with friends, and the marina. Using both my own photographs and videos & family archives, I show the relationship I have with my dad and how fishing brings us together, as it is something we have done together since I was younger. “Chumbox Mike” is my dad’s fisherman alter ego, and it’s what he goes by with his fishing friends and my family. It is still a work in progress and I plan on continuing this for a long time.
